Baby Eczema Treatment

Eczema is a skin condition that can be quite annoying, if not actually painful. It is a general term for different kinds of skin drying, which can result in flaking, itching, even bleeding or wounding. Baby eczema is also known as infantile seborrhoeic eczema, and is common in babies less than a year old. It is loosely referred to as cradle cap, because it starts on the edge of a baby's scalp, and then spreads. Also known as allergic contact dermatitis, this type occurs most often due to substances present in baby clothes, such as nickel. Nickel is present in the belt buckles of baby pants or skirts, baby earrings, and buttons of baby clothes. Allergies can also happen when babies are exposed to rubber, which can chafe skin; or harsh perfumes. The best treatment in this case is to avoid exposing a baby to such allergens.

There are only a few kinds of baby eczema treatment that are known, so before buying any creams for eczema, consult your pediatrician or infant dermatologist.
